Messaging & opt-in policy
Byoto is a tool that helps small business teams keep a shared memory of their work — most of which already happens on WhatsApp. Because WhatsApp is at the centre of how our customers operate, we hold ourselves to a very strict messaging policy. The short version is below; the details follow.
We do not message any business until its owner — or an authorised team member — has opted in to be contacted by Byoto. We do not send messages to that business’s customers at all.
1. Who we message, and why
- Business owners and authorised staff who explicitly ask us to contact them — through our website waitlist form, an email reply, or an in-person/phone sign-up.
- Existing Byoto account users, for transactional and account-related notifications tied to a service they already use (e.g., onboarding next steps, account alerts, support replies).
2. Who we never message
- Customers of the businesses we serve. Byoto does not send WhatsApp or SMS messages to a business’s customers. The business uses Byoto privately, on its own devices and accounts.
- Cold contacts. We do not buy, scrape, or import phone-number lists from third parties for outbound messaging.
- Anyone who has asked us to stop. Once you ask us to stop, we remove your number from our outbound list within one working day.
3. How opt-in works
- A business owner or authorised team member fills the waitlist or contact form on this site, ticks the consent box, and submits their phone number, or writes to us at byotoai@zohomail.in asking to be contacted.
- We store the request along with the date, source page and submitted details, so we have a clear record of consent.
- Our team then reaches out — usually by email first — to schedule a short onboarding conversation. WhatsApp is used only after the business confirms they are happy to be contacted on that number.
4. What we send
- Onboarding next steps and walkthrough invitations.
- Account, security and billing notifications related to your Byoto use.
- Support responses to questions you have raised.
- Occasional product updates, only to opted-in business contacts; you can opt out at any time.
5. How to stop messages
Email byotoai@zohomail.in with the subject “Stop messages” and the phone number you want removed, or call +91 94656 36133. We will confirm in writing once it is done — within one working day, Monday to Friday.
6. Contact for compliance questions
